By allowing a single console to manage all the attached PCs, the LINDY CPU Switch LITE OSD-8 eliminates the expense of purchasing separate keyboards, monitors and mice for each PC as well as saving all the space, energy consumption and air condition systems they would take up. -

4. LINDY CPU Switch LITE OSD Reset To reset the LINDY CPU Switch, use a thin object (such as the end of a paper clip, or a ballpoint pen) to press this recessed switch in to initiate a warm reset. If the switch is kept in for longer than three seconds, a cold reset takes place. - Page 8 English Manual Rear View: 1. Power Jack The power adapter plugs in here. The unit is designed to be operated non-powered (no external power required), in which case it takes the necessary power for its operation from the computers it connects to. Generally speaking, the only time that external power is required is when you cascade it, or if operation becomes erratic because the unit isn’t obtaining enough power from the computer connections.

PCs. Two Stage Installation To provide control for more than just eight PCs, additional LINDY CPU Switch LITE OSD-8 units can be cascaded from the CPU ports of the First Stage unit. As many as 64 PCs can be controlled in a complete two stage installation. - Page 10 3. Keyboard and Mouse reset. Powering Off and Restarting If it becomes necessary to Power Off one of the LINDY CPU Switch units before starting it back up you must do the following: 1. Shut down all the computers that are attached to it, as well as all the stations and all the computers that are cascaded downstream. - Page 12 Port ID and press [Enter] within 1 second for each keypress. Port ID Numbering: Since each CPU Port on a LINDY CPU Switch installation is assigned a unique Port ID you can directly access any computer on any level of the installation by specifying the Port ID that the computer is connected to using the Hotkey port selection method or from the OSD Main Menu.

Although Hotkey Port Selection still works, using OSD is more convenient - especially in large, cascaded installations where a great number of PCs are connected to several LINDY CPU Switch units and it is difficult to keep track of which port a particular PC is attached to. -

Rückansicht 1 – Buchse für die Stromversorgung Der LINDY CPU Switch Lite OSD-8 wurde für den Betrieb ohne externes Netzteil entwickelt. In diesem Fall bezieht er seine Versorgungsspannung aus den Tastaturschnittstellen der angeschlossenen Rechner. Es gibt jedoch Fälle., in denen eine zusätzliche Spannungsversorgung benötigt wird, z.B. - Page 27 Switch zuerst mit Strom versorgt werden muss, bevor die Rechner eingeschaltet werden. Installation mit zwei kaskadierten LINDY CPU-Switches Um mehr als acht Rechner steuern zu können ist es möglich, zusätzliche LINDY CPU- Switches über die Anschlüsse des Gerätes in der obersten Ebene zu kaskadieren. Bis zu 64 Rechner können in einer vollständigen kaskadierten Installation mit 2 Ebenen gesteuert werden.

In einer kaskadierten Installation müssen Sie de manuelle Rechneranwahl an dem CPU- Switch vornehmen, an den der anzuwählende Rechner direkt angeschlossen ist. 2. Gleichzeitiges Drücken der Tasten 7 und 8 auf dem LINDY CPU-Switch der obersten Ebene startet die ‚Quick View Scan’- Funktion: Alle Rechner, die derzeit im OSD für die ‚Quick View Scan’- Funktion selektiert sind, werden nacheinander angewählt.

Obgleich die Anwahl über Hot-Keys sehr gut und rationell funktioniert, ist die Verwendung des OSD einfacher und bequemer – speziell in großen, kaskadierten Installationen, in denen eine große Anzahl Rechner über mehrere CPU-Switches angesteuert werden und es schwierig und unübersichtlich wird, im Gedächtnis zu behalten, welcher Rechner über welchen CPU-Switch mit welchem Anschluss angesteuert wird. -
