For the various positions of the control please see the following illustrations. To ensure proper combustion process it is very important to supply the correct quantity of air at the right time and place. -

First Fire Your new RAIS should be broken into gently for top performance and to prevent paint damage, cracks in the firebrick, and excessive wear and tear. Start with a small fire (never overload the firebox) to allow the materials to get accustomed to the higher temperatures, and then gradually increase the intensity. -

Never use gasoline, gasoline-type lantern fuel, kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid, naphtha, engine oil, or similar liquids to start or freshen up a fire in your RAIS stove.
