Troubleshooting

8.1 Engine does not start

Remove the spark plug from the cylinder, and holding the cylinder, pull the recoil starter and check
whether any sparks appear between the spark plug electrodes.
Symptom/Category
There are no sparks at the spark plug
Spark plug
Magneto
Switch
There are sparks at the spark plug
Compression is
good and fuel flows
Fuel flows, but
compression is poor
No fuel flows
8 Troubleshooting
Cause
1. The spark plug electrodes are wet
2. Carbon has built up on the spark plug
electrodes
3. Insulation is poor due to cracks, etc. on
the spark plug insulator
4. The gap between the spark plug electro-
des is excessively small or large
1. Poor coil insulation
2. The cable trunking has been damaged or
the cable is broken
3. Poor air gap between the rotor and coil
4. Damage to the plug and gap spring
1. The switch is OFF
2. The switch is faulty
3. The primary wire is earthed
1. Excessive fuel intake
2. Fuel is too thick
3. Overflow
4. The air cleaner is soiled
5. Poor quality fuel is being used
1. The spark plug is loose
2. Wear or damage to the cylinder, piston,
piston
3. Gas is leaking from around the cylinder
and crankcase
1. Poor carburetor adjustment
2. Blockage inside the carburetor
3. Blockage in the fuel filter
4. Fuel hose damage or blockage
Action
Dry them
Remove the carbon or replace
with a new one.
Replace with a new one.
BPMR8Y: Adjust to 0.65 mm
Replace
