Instant messaging
Starting/viewing/ending
conversations
Instant messages are exchanged be-
tween users in ongoing conversa-
tions. You can join up to 5 conversa-
tions. Active conversations are listed
on the
Conversations
Start conversation
You can initiate a new conversation
from any tab within the Instant
message application.

• If a single contact is selected, mes-
sage is sent directly.
• If several contacts are selected or
if you invite additional users to an
ongoing conversation (page 89),
a conversation request is sent to
each user. The invited users have
to accept the request in order to
join the conversation. If user ac-
cepts, message is sent. If user re-
jects invitation, you receive a
reject notification.
• If no contact is selected, the
Invite contact option is started
automatically (page 89).

Enter text
(up to 500 digits).
Open menu and select
Send.
A notification message is sent if the
user is currently offline. Depending
on your provider, sent messages
may be stored on the server until the
user logs in.
Open text input field
During a conversation you can open
the input field by pressing

• If you do not enter text for about
15 seconds, the input field disappears.
Already entered text is saved and dis-
played when you open the input field the
next time.
• You cannot switch between conversa-
tions while the input field is open.

Each ongoing conversation is dis-
played on its own tab. The name
of the contact/group the conversa-
tion is with is displayed as the con-
versation title.
The date/time of the conversation is
displayed once at the top. The dia-
logue is displayed including pic-
tures/URLs. Numbers, vCard and oth-
er saveable objects are highlighted
automatically. Sent messages are
marked with <, incoming messages
are marked with >.
