Vehicles with manual transmission
The automatic start/stop system switches the
engine off automatically if you stop the vehi-
cle.

Brake the vehicle.

Engage neutral (

Release the clutch pedal.
The engine is switched off automatically.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
If the vehicle is stopped in transmission
position D or N, the ECO start/stop function
switches off the engine automatically.

This is also the case if you have manually
activated the switch.
Automatic engine start
General notes
The engine is started automatically if:
you switch off the automatic start/stop sys-
R
tem by pressing the automatic start/stop
system button
you open the tailgate
R
the vehicle starts to roll
R
the temperature in the vehicle interior
R
deviates from the set range
the system detects moisture on the wind-
R
screen when the air-conditioning system
is switched on
the battery's charge status is too low
R
Vehicles with manual transmission

Only engage gear when the clutch pedal is
depressed.
The engine is started automatically if you
depress the clutch pedal.

Vehicles with automatic transmission
The engine is started automatically if you:
release the brake pedal when in transmis-

sion position D or N
release the brake pedal with manual trans-
R
mission activated
move the transmission out of position P
R
Shifting the transmission to position P does
not start the engine.
Switching the automatic start/stop sys-
tem on and off

To deactivate: press automatic start/stop
system button ;.
Indicator lamp : lights up.

To activate: press automatic start/stop
system button ;.
Indicator lamp : goes out.

If indicator lamp : is on, the automatic
start/stop system has been deactivated
manually or as the result of a malfunction.
The engine will then not be switched off
automatically when the vehicle stops.
