Types of MDS systems We can distinguish 3 types of MDS system: Digital, Direct and City which basically differ in terms of their: a) Central Unit. b) Type of Entry Panel c) Capacity to manage residences and access points. d) Additional functionsincorporated: Access, Security, Automation and Lift Control. - Page 7 Fermax supplies a series of specially designed CABLES specially designed for MDS systems. The Fermax cables Ref. 5918 and Ref. 5919 are suitable for distances of up to 300 metres. For greater distances, see the sections recommended in the above table.
- Page 8 In terms of capacity and functions this system comes between the MDS Digital system (the most comprehensive) and the MDS City system. This system can work in General Entrances or Interior Blocks. Recommended for both independent buildings and medium sized residential complexes combined with other systems (MDS City or ADS).
- Page 9 Fermax supplies a series of specially designed CABLES specially designed for MDS systems. The Fermax cables Ref. 5918 and Ref. 5919 are suitable for distances of up to 300 metres. For greater distances, see the sections recommended in the above table.
- Page 10 In terms of capacity and functions this system comes between the MDS Digital system (the most comprehensive) and the MDS Direct system (medium). This system CANNOT be used in General Entrances. It can be used in Interior Blocks combined with MDS Digital or MDS Direct General Entrances. It is recommended both for independent buildings and for interior blocks in small and medium sized residential complexes, in which for aesthetic reasons, button panels are preferred.

MDS CITY. System with MDS City Panels: Button Panels. In the case of the City panels, each button corresponds to a particular MDS address, which means that a call can be made to a residence by pressing the corresponding call button. - Page 14 Examples of Calls Prior Considerations Decoder Programming: In all MDS systems, each residential terminal is connected to a DECODER output, (a residential telephone/monitor is connected to each of the decoder outputs). The decoder outputs must be programmed with a 4 digit code, which ranges from 0001 to 9999, this address identifies each of the residences in the building.

- Page 19 Note: The entry panels used in the MDS City system are standard City Line 4+N panels to which a recess is added where the MDS Digitiser Module is installed. The call extension modules are used as intermediary points between the 4+N buttons and the MDS system.
