Introduction
This guide provides the basic information needed to install the Cisco CVA122/122E Cable Voice
Adapter. The Cisco CVA122/122E Cable Voice Adapter connects a cable TV (CATV) network to one
or more computers using either an Ethernet network card or a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port. The
Cisco CVA122/122E Cable Voice Adapter supports both bidirectional data traffic and toll quality
Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic over a high-bandwidth cable connection.

Note The Cisco CVA122 Cable Voice Adapter conforms to the DOCSIS specifications,
which are compatible with cable systems throughout the world. The Cisco CVA122E Cable
Voice Adapter conforms to the EuroDOCSIS specifications, which are compatible with cable
systems in Europe and parts of Asia. The procedures for installing the Cisco CVA122 and
Cisco CVA122E Cable Voice Adapters are identical.
