7. TUNER Test Mode
Outline:
Start up the unit as set to the TUNER function in the same procedure as the normal operation. Operations and
indication after startup are identical with the normal operations. However, what is different is that the frequencies
as shown in the table below are set to the tuner preset memory in advance.
Test mode operation:
(1) After entering the test mode, start up the unit with the tuner set to the preset No. 1 station, in the same manner
as in the regular startup. When starting up, the following stations are preset which vary according to the
destination.

(2) The operation is identical with the normal operation after startup.
(3) If the POWER key is pressed, irregular data is written in the RAM check data and the microcomputer is reset.
With this operation, abnormal memory is detected during the reset process, and microcomputer settings are
initialized.
8. ASPM (RDS) Test Mode
Outline:
This is to check the RDS ASPM function in the production line. This mode is started as set to the FM stereo
function. Then the receiver frequencies between 105.00MHz and 108.00MHz are scanned, and a maximum of 3
RDS stations are stored in preset memory.
Test mode operation:
(1) When the power is turned on, this mode is started at FM stereo band 106.50MHz of the TUNER function. At the
same time, preset channels 1, 2, and 3 are set to vacant, and FM stereo 87.50MHz is stored to ch4 – ch40.
(2) The receiver frequencies are scanned from 105.00MHz with the ASPM key, and the ASPM operation begins.
(3) If an RDS station is received, it is stored in memory from ch1 in order. (In the ASPM test mode, PS names do
not have to be memorized. When switching channels, the frequency is displayed at the head.)
(4) Scanning stops when 108.00MHz is reached and the unit resumes to receive FM stereo 106.50MHz.
(5) The channel numbers and frequencies are displayed in the FL from channel 1 to channel 3 in order as the
confirmation display of the memory, after which FM stereo 106.50MHz reappears. (This can be displayed in the
same method as the normal tuner display.)
(6) If the ASPM key is pressed again, repeat steps (2) – (5).
(7) Scanning stops where the 3 stations are stored in memory. Perform steps (4) and (5).
(8) Even if the ASPM key is pressed later, its operation will not start. Instead, "___END___" is displayed for 1 second
and the initial indication appears.
Supplementary notes:
(1) Operations that are not explained above are to be the same as the normal ASPM operation. Therefore, in the
first scan, only the station with the strongest electric intensity among those with the same PI code is stored in
memory, and no other station is memorized. In the second scan or later, the station that is previously stored in
memory and has the same frequency will not be memorized again. However, if other stations have the same PI
code but different frequencies, the one with the strongest electric intensity is memorized. At that time, the electric
intensity of the memorized station is ignored. By repeating scanning 3 times, 3 stations with the strongest electric
intensity may be stored in memory, even if they have the same PI code.
(2) If the POWER key is pressed, irregular data is written in the RAM check data and the microcomputer is reset.
With this operation, abnormal memory is detected during the reset process, and the microcomputer settings are
initialized.
