Setting for Situation 1 (HISTOGRAM): Select HIST BLC and set the value to ON and the value for

compensates across the whole picture. You can set the back-light compensation factor by
adjusting the BLC LEVEL value. The higher the value, the stronger the compensation effect.

However, in certain cases, the object to be monitored may be too dark since the back-light is too
strong for compensation. If you cannot change the camera position, you should use Wide
Dynamic cameras.
Setting for Situation 2 (WINDOW WEIGHT): Set HIST BLC to OFF and WINDOWS BLC to ON. The
size and position of the object to be monitored can now be set individually via the menu item
CENTER
OPD WINDOW (section 9.7 of the instructions) in a selection of 255 single fields in the picture.

The brightness values of the other picture areas are reduced and those of the selected area

increased. Via the WNDW WEIGHT setting, you can assign a higher brightness value to the other
picture areas (see next page). Use the RIGHT/LEFT keys to set the level for the other areas from 0
(no rating) to 15 (strong rating).
Situations 1 and 2 occur separately only in the rarest cases. You usually need both situations

simultaneously. For the best results, you should therefore make the following setting:
1. Set HIST BLC to ON.
2. Set BLC LEVEL to an average value (8–12).
3. Set WINDOWS BLC to ON.
4. Set the other picture areas accordingly via WNDW WEIGHT.
