10. TROUBLE SHOOTING

Fault
Burner will not light even
though the spark plug is
working
No spark is obtained when the
control knob is activated
Flames uneven or tending to lift
Low heat, slow cooking
Flame won t turn down
sufficiently
Possible cause
-Gas supply valve turned off
-Control knob not on
-Wrong knob turned
-Port blockage in ignition
area
-Ignition electrode wet or dry
-Sparking at wrong point
because of incorrectly fitted
burner crown
-Battery is flat
-Polarity wrong on battery
-Ignition electrode wet or dry
-Flame ports blocked or wet
-Burner cap/crown incorrectly
fitted
Incorrect cooking utensil used -Use only pots and pans with bases
-Incorrect injector or gas
control valve incorrectly
adjusted
Remedy
-Turn on gas supply to appliance
-Turn knob on
-Ensure the knob you are turning
correspond to the burner you want
to light
-Ensure that ports in ignition area
are clean and dry
-Dry or clean ignition electrode
-Ensure that crown is seated
property so that the spark fires to
the receiving point in burner crown
-Replace battery
-Re-orient battery to correct
position
-Dry or clean ignition electrode
-Clean or dry frame ports
Ensure these components are fitted
correctly
that fit the size of the burner
-Contact installer
