CLEANING
LENSES
AND
REFLECTOR
The condensing
lenses and the projection
lens of the
Sound Kodascope
are lumenized,
that is, a special hard
coating
has been applied
to all the air-glass
surfaces.
The
tinted
appearance
of the lenses is due to this treat-
ment, which increases the light transmitted,
thus increasing
the brilliance
of the
image
on the screen.
like any fine lens, the projection
lens on your projector
should
be
cleaned with
care.
Remove the lens
by
drawing
it out of the lens holder.
With
a
soft
lintless cloth, or
Kodak
lens Cleaning
Paper,
carefully
wipe
the two lens
surfaces.
To clean the CONDENSER
lENS,
remove
the LAMPHOUSING
as described
on page III. Remove the condenser lens from
the housing and clean it in the same manner as the pro-
jection
lens.
When replacing
the condenser lens, push it in
as far
as
it will go and tighten the lock
screw.
Clean
the
REFLECTOR without removing
it from the lamphousing.
Do not wet the cloth used for cleaning lenses. If moisture
is required,
breathe
on the lenses or use a drop of Kodak
lens
Cleaner.
CLEANING
THE
GATE
To
remove
small pieces of film emulsion which
are
visible
on the screen
during.
projection,
remove
the
lens, reach
throunh
the
lens holder
with a brush or small stick, and
carefully
run the brush or stick around
the edges of the
cperture.
To
remove
particles
of emulsion from
the surface
of
the
GATE,
use
a strip of soft cloth
about
the width of
the fllrn.
Rotate
the
threading
knob until
the
pull-down
claws are
withdrawn.
Dampen
the
cloth and thread
it into
the
gate
just as
film
is
threaded,
close the
gate, and draw
the
cloth
up and
down.
