Maintenance and Cleaning

 Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
 For safe and proper working, always keep the machine
and ventilation slots clean.
Replace the blade (see figure A)
The upper cutter 4 and the bottom cutter 5 are identical, have
four cutting edges each, and can be exchanged with each other.
Turn or replace the cutters in good time. Only sharp applica-
tion tools achieve good cutting capacity and make the ma-
chine last longer.
To replace the upper cutter 4, loosen the fastening screw 3; to
replace the bottom cutter 5, loosen the fastening screw 7.
Turn the cutter by 90° or install a new cutter. When installing
the bottom cutter 5, pay attention that it faces against the ad-
justment screw 6.
Note: Turn the cutter only in the direction indicated in the figure
and insert a new cutter only in the position shown in the figure.
Cutting is not possible with an incorrectly inserted cutter.
Retighten the fastening screw 3 for the upper cutter and the
fastening screw 7 for the bottom cutter with a tightening
torque of 3–4 Nm. Check the cutter clearance a (see "Adjust-
ing Cutter Clearance a", page 11).
Upper cutter 4 and bottom cutter 5 may not be reground.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to
be done by Bosch or an authorized Bosch service agent in or-
der to avoid a safety hazard.
