Calculate the aperture f-number
from the flash-to-subject
distance and the guide number,
and set the camera's aperture
accordingly.
• To determine the f-number,
see "Guide Number, Aperture
and Flash-to-subject Distance"
(0H-6).
• Aperture cannot be set on the
SB-5000.
• The effective flash output distance
that matches the flash output
level and aperture is displayed.
Set the camera shutter speed.
• Determine the shutter speed with
the equation below, and set a
lower camera shutter speed than
the calculated shutter speed.
Shutter speed = number of flash
firings / frequency of flash firings
• If the number of flash firings is
10 (times) and the frequency
of flash firings is 5 (Hz), set the
shutter speed for longer than
2 seconds.
• Bulb can also be set.
Check that the flash-ready
indicator is on, and then shoot.
