3.11 LOCALIZER OPERATION
(TYPICAL CONTROL SETTINGS)
STEP PROCEDURE
1. MONITOR METER FUNCTION
Switch
RF to ver ify pr oper leveling of
inter nal Signal G ener ator on the
MONITOR Meter.
30% to ver ify or set 20% modulation
of each modulating tone and set
cour se center ing on the MO NITO R
Meter .
2. COUNTER MODE Switch
G EN to r ead out the Signal
G ener ator fr equency on the DIG ITAL
Display when oper ating in fixed
( FIXED) or var iable ( VAR) modes.
3. FREQ UENCY MODE Switch
LOC FIXED is mandator y in r amp
oper ation and is used on bench for a
fixed channel center fr equency.
LOC VAR to check all channel bench
oper ation. Set VAR FREQ Contr ols
to select the desir ed channel in
25 kHz steps.
4. TUNE Contr ol
Adjust until TUNE Indicator stops
illuminating, indicating Signal
G ener ator is in the fine tune r ange.
5. FINE TUNE switch
Pr ess and adjust TUNE Contr ol until
MO NITO R Meter indicates least
deflection fr om left.

6. OUTPUT ATTENUATOR Control
Use as needed to establish Receiver
sensitivities.
7. RF O UT Connector
Connect to Receiver Antenna
Connector , or attach Antenna in
r amp oper ation.
8. TO NE SELECT Switch
Select audio tone: 1020 ( Ident
tone) , 400, 1300 or 3000 Hz as
desir ed.
9. LO C DDM Contr ol
Use steps for pr ecise amounts of
deflection and flag tests.
10. LO C DDM/DDM SWEEP AMPLITUDE
Contr ol
Use to check Auto- pilot Ser vos,
meter stickiness, etc. or to set DDM
sweep amplitude.
11. LO C DDM SWEEP Switch
Use to select initial dir ection of DDM
sweep.
12. MASTER MO D LEVEL Contr ol
Set to CAL for 20% each cour se
tone and 30% audio tone or var iable
fr om 3% to 35% each cour se tone
and 3% to 55% audio tone.
13. PWR/BAT Switch
PWR to use exter nal ac line power
thr ough the AC IN Connector .
BAT to initiate oper ation using
inter nal Batter y power .
