4.3.2 Console channel
DIP switch SW16 determines which of the t w o channels, C H I and
CH3 is t o be used for the programming console.
When the VT-220 is used SW16 should be switched OFF defining
CH3 (RS-232C) as the programming console port. When the GPPI
HGP is used the switch is generally switched ON defining C H I
(RS-422) as the programming console port. (RS-232C may also be
used)

General-purpose port
The console setting switch is valid after the AD51 E is powered
u p or reset. When the console setting has been changed, reset
the AD51 E.
4.3.3 Terminal resistor
A terminal resistor is fitted t o prevent distortion o f the transmis-
sion signal waveform. When a number o f A D 5 l s are connected
together via an RS-422 link, the t w o end stations should be set with
"terminal resistor present", the remainder with "terminal resistance
absent."
DIP switches SW14 and SW15 are used t o set the terminal resistance
as shown below
