• A slightodor may be detected,and if an oven is heavilysoiled,some smokemay
be visible. Some smoke and odor during the cleaning process is a normal
occurrence. Since the ovenvent is locatedunder the air grille,vapors, moisture,
etc. may be seen comingfrom this area. If the odoris strongor objectionable, t urn
on the ventilationsystem to exhaust odors outdoors.
• Dudngthe cleaningprocess, do not be alarmed if an occasionalflame is visible
throughthe oven window. This is caused by excessive food soil that was not
removedbefore the oven was set to clean.
• SINCE THE DOOR AND WINDOW OF THE OVEN AND OVEN VENT WILL GET
WARM DURING THE SELF-CLEANING PROCESS, AVOID CONTACT.
• Some typesof soil may disintegrate but leavea lightfilm or heavierdepositof ash.
The amountof ashdependson theamountof soil whichwas in theoven. After oven
hascooled,thisash may be removedwith a damp sponge. If other dark deposits
remainafter wipingwith a sponge,the time set for the _ength of cleaning was not
enough. Increasethe cleaningtime for futurecleaningsor clean more frequently.
The normalcleaningtime is2V2hours. A maximumof 4 hours may be selectedif
necessary.

• If rackshave been left in oven dudngthe c_eaning process,theyshouldbe treated
as follows. After the cleaningprocessiscompletedand the oven has cooled,buff
the underside of rackedgeswithScotch-Brite scourpad or rublight/ythe underside
of rackedgeswitha coatingof vegetableoil. Use a lightapplication ofoilso itdoes
not soilthe oven. Thiswill make the cleaned racksslide more easily.
• To removeoccasionalspillovers betweenoleanings,usea soap-filledscoudngpad
or mildcleanser;rinsewell.
• It is betterto clean the oven regularlyratherthan wait untilthere is a heavybuild-
up of soil in the oven.
• During the cleaningprocess, t he kitchenshouldbe wellventilatedto helpeliminate
normalodors associatedwith cleaning.
• Any attempt to force the self-clean door lock/ever to lock or unlock without electric
power applied to the door or with the TEMP Knob in any
position other than Clean may result in damage to the door
locking mechanism.
• DO NOT USE COMMERCIAL OVEN CLEANERS IN OR AROUND THE SELF-
CLEANING OVEN AREA.
• DO NOT USE ALUMINUM FOIL OR OTHER LINERS IN THE OVEN.
