5. When the engine starts, move the throttle to the Fast
position (Figure 23).

Using the Self-propel Drive

To operate the self-propel drive, simply walk with your
hands on the upper handle and your elbows at your sides,
and the mower will automatically keep pace with you
(Figure 24).

Note: If, when backing up after self-propelling, the mower
does not roll backward freely, nudge the mower forward
about an inch or two without engaging the self-propel drive
(Figure 24), then pull the mower backward.
Engaging the Blade
When you start the engine the blade does not turn. You
must engage the blade to mow.
1. Push the blade control button and pull the blade control
bar to the handle (Figure 25).
