Storage
WARNING
When storing petrol and kerosene
or equipment with fuel in tank:
Store away from furnaces,
stoves, water heaters, or other
appliances that have a pilot light
or other ignition source because
they can ignite petrol or
kerosene vapors.
If engine is stored over 30 days, prepare as follows:
1. Preparation or removal of fuel.
When fuel is left in engine a Fuel Additive must be
added to prevent gum from forming in fuel system or on
essential carburetor parts.
For engine protection, mix a Kerosene Additive in
the kerosene tank or storage container. For the
petrol tank or storage container we recommend use
of Briggs & Stratton Petrol Additive, Part No. 5041,

available from any Authorized Briggs & Stratton
Service Dealer. Run engine for a short time to
circulate Additive through carburetor. Fuel with
Additive can be stored up to 24 months in engine or
storage containers.
Note: If petrol tank contains oxygenated or
reformulated petrol (petrol blended with an alcohol or
an ether), remove all petrol from tank.
If Fuel Additives are not used:
Drain all kerosene from tank into an approved storage
container and then run engine until it stops from lack
of kerosene.
