SPECIAL LOW TEMPERATURE STARTIIMG PROCEDURE
1. Turn needle v a l v e on carburetor, 1/8 turn c o u n t e r c l o c k -
wise from normal summer adjustment. Note: If fuel d r i p s out of carburetor w h i l e t r y i n g t o start e n g i n e , the engine
is over choked.
Pull starter several times or push starter button w i t h choke open.
2. Be sure t o use the proper
weight of o i l for the air temperature expected.
3. D i s c o n n e c t a l l external l o a d s .
Any V - b e l t d r i v e s must be re-
moved or loosened so that the belts are standing s t i l l f o r s a t i s f a c t o r y o p e r a t i o n below f r e e z i n g .
Starter, motor
and battery are designed t o start t h e engine o n l y .
4. Keep battery and engine warm if p o s s i b l e .
If it is not
possible to keep the entire unit warm, there is a b i g advantage in keeping t h e battery warm until it is required
for s t a r t i n g . A warm b a t t ry has much more s t a r t i n g c a p a c i t y than a c o l d b a t t e r y .

Move control lever t o " S t o p " p o s i t i o n .

MAINTENANCE
M j C H E C K OIL LEVEL before s t a r t i n g e n g i n e and after
^ e v e r y 5 hours of operation.
Be sure o i l level is main-
tained to FULL POINT OF OVERFLOWING or t o FULL
MARK on d i p s t i c k .
(T^CHANGE
OIL after f i r s t 5 hours of o p e r a t i o n .
There-
after change o i l every 25 hours of o p e r a t i o n .
Remove
oil drain plug and d r a i n o i l w h i l e engine is warm. Re-
place drain p l u g .
Remove d i p s t i c k or o i l f i l l e r p l u g
and r e f i l l w i t h new o i l of proper grade.
Replace d i p -
s t i c k or p l u g .
CLEAN AIR CLEANER and re-oil element every 25 hours
under normal c o n d i t i o n s .
1. Remove two screws and l i f t off complete a i r cleaner
assembly.
2. Remove screen and spacers from foam element.
3. Remove foam element from a i r cleaner body.
4. A —Wash foam element in kerosene or l i q u i d deter-
gent and water t o remove d i r t .
B —Wrap foam in c l o t h and squeeze dry.
C — S a t u r a t e foam in engine o i l . Squeeze to remove.
D - A s s e m b l e p a r t s - f a s t e n to carburetor w i t h s c r e w .
When assembling make c e r t a i n t h e l i p of the foam ele-
ment extends over edge of the air cleaner body.
The
foam element l i p w i l l form a p r o t e c t i v e s e a l .
