2) Execute simulations 50-1, and set to the rear edge void
adjustment mode.
3) With the document cover open, make a copy at 100%.
4) Measure the end edge void area of each copy.

5) If the rear edge void area is within the specified range, the
adjustment is completed.

Standard: 4 mm or less
If the void area is outside the specified range, change the
set value of simulations 50-1 and repeat procedures 3) to
5).
When the set value is changed by "1," the void area is
changed by about 0.176 mm.
When the set value is made greater, the void area be-
comes greater, and vise versa.

2. Copy density adjustment

(1) Copy density adjustment timing
The copy density adjustment must be performed in the following
cases:
* When maintenance is performed.
* When the high voltage unit output current or voltage is adjusted.
* When the developing bias voltage is adjusted.
* When the copy lamp is replaced.
* When the optical section is cleaned.
* When any part of the optical section is replaced.
* When the optical section is disassembled.
* When the OPC drum is replaced.
* When the AE sensor is replaced.
* When the main control PWB is replaced.
* When the EEPROM on the main control PWB is replaced.
* When memory trouble (U") occurs.
* When any part of the copy lamp control circuit is replaced.
* When the AC power PWB is replaced.
(2) Note for copy density adjustment
1) Perform the following items before the copy density
adjustment.
* Clean the optical section.
* Clean the AE sensor.
* Clean or replace the charger wire, the saw teeth blade, and the
grid.
* Check that the high voltage section voltage and the developing
bias voltage are in the specified range.
2) Note
* The auto mode copy density adjustment must be performed after
the manual mode copy density adjustment. Never reverse the se-
quence.
(3) Necessary tools
* Test chart (UKOG-0162FCZZ, UKOG-0089CSZZ, or KODAC
GRAY SCALE.
* A4 (8 1/2" x 11") white paper
