MAINTENANCE WORK ON CHASSIS AND ENGINE
Insert a new oil filter [1] in the engine case, grease the O-ring and mount the
oil filter cover together with the O-ring. Tighten the screws to 6 Nm.

ONLY USE ORIGINAL KTM OIL FILTERS. THE ENGINE CAN BE DAMAGED IF OTHER
FILTERS ARE USED.
Mount the oil drain plug on the oil tank with a new seal ring and tighten to
20 Nm.

Grease the seal ring [2] and carefully slide the oil screen into the oil tank.
Position the oil return valve [3], mount the screws and tighten to 10 Nm.

Mount the battery cover and tighten the screws to 25 Nm. Mount the lower
screw on the right tank and tighten to 25 Nm.
Connect the pickup cable [4] to the left tank and fasten the tank with
3 screws. Tighten the screws to 25 Nm.
Connect the fuel lines and open all 3 fuel taps.

Add 2.5 liters (0.7 USgal) of fully synthetic engine oil meeting the JASO MA
standard (e.g. Motorex Power Synt 4T) and mount the oil dipstick. Start the
engine, allow to run warm for 4 minutes and switch off the engine. Remove
the oil dipstick and add engine oil up to the MAX mark (approx. 0.5 liters,
0.13 USgal).
Check the engine and the oil tank for oil leakage.
Apply Loctite 243 to the thread of the 4 screws, mount the underride
protection and tighten the screws to 25 Nm.
THE SCREWS ON THE UNDERRIDE PROTECTION MUST BE SECURED WITH LOC-
TITE 243 TO PREVENT THEM FROM BECOMING LOOSE.
Connect the turn signal cable and the tank vent hose and mount the left panel.
Mount the storage compartment cover.
