When you open the
Maps
application,
the location that was saved from your last session. If no
position was saved from the last session, the
application zooms in to the major city of the country or
region you are in, based on the information the device
receives from the cellular network. At the same time, the
map of the location is downloaded. The maps are
automatically saved in the device memory or on a
compatible memory card (if inserted).
To establish a GPS connection and zoom in to your current
location, select
Options
>
Find place
or press
.
To move on the map, scroll up, down, left, or right. To view
detailed information of a location on the map, scroll to it,
press
and select
Show
details. To use the location, for
example, as a starting point for a nearby search or to plan
a route, press the scroll key, and select the desired option.
To return to your current location, press
Options
>
Find place
>
GPS position
When you browse the map on the display, for example,
move to another country, a new map is downloaded
automatically. These downloaded maps are free of charge,
but downloading may involve the transmission of large
amounts of data through your service provider's network.
For more information on data transmission charges,
contact your service provider.
Maps
zooms in to
The maps are automatically saved in the device memory.
To zoom in or out on the map, press
Maps
between the 2-D and 3-D views, select
options
To define what kind of points of interest are shown on the
map, select
desired categories.
To view information about satellites when you are using
Maps, select
can also see a GPS indicator on the display when browsing
>
GPS position
[0],
maps. It indicates whether your device is receiving signals
from satellites. See 'Satellite information', p. 74.
To save a location as a landmark, in the desired location,
press
the landmark, and select the categories you want to
include it in.

To take a screenshot of your location, select

To view saved landmarks, select
Landmark. To send a landmark to a compatible device, in
the landmarks view, press
the landmark in a text message, the information is
converted to plain text.
To adjust the network, routing, and general settings, select
Options
> 2D/3D.
