    AC power is readily available, such as a studio setting. CION's operational voltage range is 12 to 18 Vdc. NOTE: Do not supply excess voltage to CION. To properly operate CION, be sure to supply voltage within the specified 12 to 18 Vdc range.     To power up CION, press the Power Button. A progress indication with percentages will appear during the power up sequence. To power down CION, you must press and hold the Power Button down for three seconds while the User Interface Screen displays a count down. This design prevents accidental power-off during normal operation.

    PL Lens Mount counter clockwise. NOTE: Limit the amount of time that the PL Lens Mount Cover or a lens is not attached to CION to avoid dust and other debris entering the lens mount. NOTE: Some PL mount lenses will have a notch in each of their four pronged flanges, while others will have only a single notch in one flange.

Typically, if you are connecting an electronic viewfinder, you will want to use the front SDI Monitor connector. If your electronic viewfinder does not offer an SDI input connection, a front mounted HDMI connection is also offered.
  • Page 20 If you do power your electronic viewfinder or monitor using the CION 2-Pin Power Connector, be aware that if you power down CION, power will still be provided via this connection so to conserve battery life, be sure to power down the electronic viewfinder or monitor when CION is powered down.

    Not all electronic viewfinders or monitors will support all of the formats and frame rates that CION is capable of outputting. Be sure to consult the specifications of your devices to see if a given format and frame rate is supported.

  • Page 23: Connecting The Lanc Cable To The Cion Top Handle Lanc Collar

    CION. Typically, you will want to connect the LANC cable to the LANC connector on the top of CION so that the other LANC connector on the side of CION may be used for a handgrip LANC connection.

    Note that there is a “Low Battery” warning prompt that users should take note of and stop recordings in progress if at all possible before battery failure. CION can sometimes manage to close the file before the battery stops providing sufficient power, but this is not always possible due to the nature of some batteries and the duration of some recordings.
  • Page 26 You should reduce the input gain at the source (mixer or source equipment supplying the signal) or by using the Audio Control Knobs on CION. To adjust the audio level, press the Audio Control Knob inward and the knob will then pop out for easy adjustment.

    Windows OS computers when used with third-party software utilities. Once removed from CION, the Pak media can be inserted in the AJA Pak Dock media reader. The Pak Dock connects directly to a computer via either Thunderbolt or USB 3.0.

    The SDI raw output and the Thunderbolt raw output are mutually exclusive; you cannot use both at the same time. To capture 4K or Ultra HD raw data at up to 30 fps, the Thunderbolt output of CION may be used in conjunction with AJA's CamXchange software application and an appropriately configured host computer and RAID array featuring Thunderbolt.

    Chapter 6: Web Browser Remote Control Overview An optimized web server running on CION allows you to remotely monitor and adjust parameter settings via a a browser client running on a network wired computer. The network can be a closed local area network, a straight computer-to-CION cable connection, or even exposed through a firewall to a broadband WAN.

    Operations Unique to the Web UI Updating Firmware The Update Firmware screen allows you to update your CION to later versions of software as they are issued by AJA and posted on the website. When software updates are released, they often contain new features, improvements, and bulletins that may be very useful.

In some cases, these files may “decompress” automatically, such as when using Safari and Mac OS X.
