III = Handle back for one-handed trimming, une-
qualled trimming range, and support.
IV = Handle location for vertical trimming and edg-
ing jobs.
Fold the clamping lever 10 back to fix the adjust-
able handle 3 in the adjusted position.
Adjusting Handle Height or Trimming/Edging
Position (see figure

Slide release button 9 towards trimmer head.
Adjust the shaft 5 to one of six possible handle
height positions.
If necessary turn the shaft 5 180° to position the
trimmer head for trimming/edging as shown.

Cutting and Edging

Remove stones, loose pieces of wood and
other objects from the cutting area.
The cutting line continues to rotate for a few sec-
onds after the trimmer is switched off. Allow the
motor/cutting line to stop rotating before switch-
ing "on" again.
Do not rapidly switch off and on.
Switching On and Off
Press switch 1 and hold depressed. Release
switch 1 for switching off.
Cutting Grass
Move the trimmer left and right, keeping it well away
from the body. (see figure
The trimmer can efficiently cut grass up to a height
of 15 cm. Cut taller grass in stages.
For increased access move adjustable handles 3 to
position III. (see figure

Trimming Edges

Run the trimmer along the edge of the lawn. Do not
allow the cutting line to contact paved surfaces or
garden walls, since this will wear the line rapidly.

Use handle position IV for edging.
Cutting Around Trees and Bushes
Carefully cut around trees and bushes so that they
do not come into contact with the cutting line.
Plants can die if you damage the bark.
For better control use guide handle 4 or adjustable
handle 3.

Feeding the Line

The rotating line can wear or break. You will notice
when the motor runs without load and no grass is
cut.

Switch off the machine and remove plug
from the mains.
The line must be fed manually:
Hold the spool plate 14 in position, lift the line up and
pull it out approx. 9 cm counter-clockwise. Clasp the
line between the studs of the spool plate. The
spool 16 does not need to be removed.
If the line is exceeding the maximum cutting circle it
will be cut by the blade 15 integrated in the cutting
guard 8.

While operating the trimmer press and release the
trimmer firmly against a solid base such as a pave-
ment surface (necessary pressure approx. 3 kg).
The spool will release approx. 4 cm of line per ac-
tion.
When the line breaks off completely feed twice to re-
gain the full cutting circle.
If the line is exceeding the maximum cutting circle it
will be cut by the blade 15 integrated in the cutting
guard 8.
Model ART 25 GSA/GSAV/ERGOPOWER
While operating the trimmer the line will be fed auto-
matically when it breaks.
If the line breaks off completely, the automatic feed
may not be able to function correctly.
