4. Inspect paper air filter element, and replace it if it is damaged.
Always replace the paper air filter element at the scheduled interv
(see page 24).
5. Clean the paper air filter element if it is to be reused.

brush off dirt; brushing will force
dirt
into the fibers.
6. Wipe dirt from the inside of the air cleaner case and cover, using a
moist rag. Be careful to prevent dirt from entering the air duct that
leads to the carburetor.
7. Reinstall the paper air filter element. Tighten the air filter wing nut
securely.
8. Reinstall the air
cleaner cover, and tighten the cover wing nut
securely.
