7.2 Automatic group cleaning and degreasing

A brew group cleaner (in powder or tablet form) is available at your specialised dealer. With this detergent, you can
clean and degrease the group very easily. The cleaning is carried out using the blind filter included with delivery. The
group cleaning should be carried out after about 150 cups brewed.
1
Heat up the machine.
2
Put the blind filter into the filter holder.
3
Fill the blind filter with ½ sachet of group cleaning powder or insert one tablet.
4
Clamp the filter holder into the brew group.
5
Start the brew group cleaning mode by keeping the star button pressed and press button 1 (espresso).
A running light appears on the control panel. Please wait until the running light has stopped and all buttons of
the control panel light up again
6
Remove the filter holder and rinse it. Then clamp it into the brew group again.
7
Press the star button shortly to make sure that the degreasing residues in the brew group are completely
removed.
Caution!
Beware of hot water splashes while cleaning the group.

7.3 Prophilactic descaling (for water tank machines)

A regular descaling of the machine is recommended in order to avoid strong calcification and expensive repairs.
While descaling, always take into account the hardness degree of the water. It is very important to use a sparing
descaler which does not affect the metal. You can purchase a descaler at your specialised dealer (in powder or tablet
form) which is perfectly suited for your machine. Just fill the water tank with fresh water and dissolve the descaler in
it. Then proceed as follows:
1
Heat up the machine until the operating pressure has been reached (1.0-1.2 bar).
2
Switch the machine off.
3
Empty the boiler by operating the hot water dispenser. Then close the hot water dispenser again.
4
Mix the descaler with water according to the instructions and put it into the water tank.
5
Switch the machine on. Thus, the empty boiler is automatically filled with descaling liquid.
6
Press the star button and wait until liquid is released from the group. Thus, the heat exchanger is filled with
descaler liquid. Press the star button again.
7
Clamp the filter holder with the blind filter into the group and press the star button. Dispense liquid for approx.
20 seconds and press the star button again to stop dispensing. Thus, the expansion valve is descaled. Repeat
this process 3 times.
