NOTE:
The Quick Start Guide describes stand-alone application. For other types of installations, such as ID-
NET
, Pass-Through, Multiplexer Layout, etc. and for a complete scanner configuration using
GeniusPlus configuration program, refer to the TCNM-AD/EX Manual.
STEP 1 – Connect the System
NOTE: This section illustrates a standalone application. For a pass-through installation, refer to the
appropriate section. For complete scanner configuration using the GeniusPlus configuration program,
refer to the Context-Sensitive Help On-Line.
To connect the system in a standalone configuration, you need the hardware indicated below. In this layout, the data is
transmitted to the Host on the main serial interface.
In Local Echo communication mode, data is transmitted on the RS-232 auxiliary interface independently from the
main interface selection.
When On Line Operating mode is used, the scanner is activated by an External Trigger (photoelectric sensor) when
the object enters its reading zone.

    TCNM-AD Barcode Scanner STEP 4 – Installing GeniusPlus Configuration Program GeniusPlus is a scanner configuration tool that provides several important advantages: • Wizard approach for new users • Multi-language version • Defined configuration directly stored in the reader • Communication protocol independent from the physical interface allowing to consider the reader as a remote object to be configured and monitored To install GeniusPlus, insert the GeniusPlus CD-ROM, wait for the CD to autorun, and follow the installation procedure.

Select Operating Mode and click Next. On Line operating mode requires the reader to be connected to an External Trigger/Presence Sensor using I1A and I1B inputs.

    ID-NET is in addition to the Main and Auxiliary serial interfaces. If you need an ID-NET network, refer to the TCNM-AD/EX manual. The scanner can also be configured for alternative layouts by reading programming barcodes. See Family Scanner Setup Procedure Using Programming Barcodes, printable from the CD.

    TCNM-AD Barcode Scanner Mechanical Installation The barcode scanner can be installed to operate in different positions. The four screw holes (M4 x 5) on the body of the reader are for mechanical fixture. The diagrams below give the overall dimensions of the scanner and mounting bracket and may be used for installation.
