BATTERY MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Batteries emit hydrogen gas.
Explosion or fire can result. Keep sparks and
open flame away. Keep battery compartment open
when charging.
FOR SAFETY: When servicing machine, wear
safety glasses when handling batteries or cables.
Avoid contact with battery acid.
1. Always follow proper charging instructions (See
CHARGING BATTERIES).
2. After charging batteries, check fluid level (A) in
each battery cell. Fluid level should reach bottom
of sight tubes (B). If needed, add distilled water.
DO NOT fill beyond bottom of sight tube
(Figure 36).

3. Keep battery tops and terminals clean and dry.
To clean batteries:
a. Mix a strong solution of baking soda and water
(Figure 37).
b. Brush solution sparingly over battery tops,
terminal and cable connectors.
NOTE: Do not allow baking soda solution to enter
battery cells.
c. Use wire brush to clean terminal post and
cable connections.

d. After cleaning, apply a coating of clear battery
post protectant to terminals and cable
connections.

STORING MACHINE

When storing machine for extended periods of time,
follow the procedures below:
1. Charge Batteries. Never store machine with
discharged batteries.
2. Drain solution tank.
3. Remove solution pouch.
4. Empty hopper of debris.
5. Store machine in a dry area.
6. Raise brushes off floor.
7. If storing machine in freezing temperatures, be
sure that machine, pump and spraying system are
completely drained and dry.
ATTENTION: Do not allow machine to freeze with
water in spray system. Damage due to freezing
temperatures is not covered by warranty.
ATTENTION: Do not expose machine to rain; store
indoors.
STORING MACHINE IN FREEZING
TEMPERATURES
When storing machine in freezing temperatures, the
following procedures must be followed to prevent
solution system damage:
1. Disconnect solution pouch from machine and store
indoors (Figure 39).
2. Drain solution tank of all water, tilt back machine
to completely drain (Figure 40).
