Basic Operation Operation Buttons Throttle U p Throttle up thepowertoyourtrackbypressing the topendoftheThrottle Control Rocker Switchfirmly forabout 5 seconds, until the engine's headlightand lighted cars burnbright. Then put the engine into motion by firmly pressing the Direction button (holdit for approximately1 second)on y o u r remoteonce. I f t h e engine does not begin to moveas soon as you firmlypresstheDirection button,you may not have sent enough voltagetothetracktomakethetrainmove.
Speed Control M.T.H. engines equipped with Loco-Soundhavespeedcontrolcapabilities that allow the engine t o maintain a constant speed u p a nddown grades and aroundcurves,muchlike an automobilecruisecontrol. Youcanadd ordrop carsonthe run, and theengine w ill maintainthespeedyouset. Theengineisprogrammedto start with thespeed control featureactivated, you can opt to turnitoff.

Proto-Cast: Allows you toplay audio recordingsthroughyourengine'sspeakers. You mustsupply the audio source (a small portable CD/tape player is sufficient) andamale-to-male mini cable (1/8"plug,like that usedforthe headset withaportableCD/tapeplayer)toconnectyouraudio source to the remote lock-on. To use Proto-Cast Plugthe mini-cable first into your audio source (usually into theheadphonejack) PlugCableintothe "Audio"portontherightsideoftheremotelock-on.

Maintenance Care of the Remote Control To ensuretrouble-free operation: Do not drop the remote. It candamagethedelicate electronics inside. Remove batteries beforestoring for extendedperiods. Anyattempt byanyone otherthanan authorized M.T.H.repairperson toopenand repair the handheldtransmitter or lock-on mayresultindamage and the loss of warrantyprotection. If your train responds inconsistently, replaceoldbatteries with fresh ones.
STEP Oncethemotormountscrew has been removed,pullthe motorawayfromthetruckblockandlightly coatthe motor worm g ear and bronzedrivegear (inthetruckblock)with grease. Reassemblethetruckandmotor,beingcarefulnottopinch thepickupandgroundwiresbetweenthetruck blockand motormount. Worm Repeatthe procedureifenginehasmorethanonemotor. STEP Slip the new tire onto the wheel. Youmayfinditusefulto usetwosmallflatheadscrewdriversto stretchthetireover thewheel. I f youtwist thetirewhilestretching itoverthewheel,you willneedto remove andreinstall thetire. Otherwise your engine will wobblewhile operating. Makesurethetireisfullyseatedinside the groove. Use a razor blade totrimaway any e xcesstirethatdoesn't seat itselfinside the grooveproperly. Reassemblethe trucksidesto the truckblocks.
