Using the IrDA Communications Port
To communicate directly with the host:
1. Power on the terminal and the host.
2. Align the base of the terminal directly with the host IrDA de-
vice.
3. Start communications as specified by your application pro-
gram.
Communicating with Accessories
The PDT 7200 communicates with IrDA-compliant peripherals,
such as printers, through the IrDA interface in the base of the
terminal. To print, point the base of the PDT 7200 handle at the
IrDA-compliant printer from a maximum distance of 39 inches [1
meter] and run the application's print function.

Using the Integrated Laser Scanner

To use the integrated laser scanner:
1. Verify that the terminal is on (the display is active).
2. Ensure that a scanning-capable application is loaded and pre-
pared to allow scanning.
3. Point the scanner at the bar code and pull the trigger to the
handle.
4. Ensure that the scan beam crosses all bars and spaces on the
symbol.
Hold the scanner farther away for larger symbols, and closer
for symbols with bars that are close together.
