levels. Many of these sounds are normal Pleasenote that the surfacesadjacentto a refrigerator, such as hard walls, floors and
cabinetrymay make these soundsseem even louder. The followingare some of the normalsoundsthat may be noticedin a new

detectable.These are norma sounds necessary
DEFROST TIMER: Frost-free
for makin( ice.
refrigerators have a defrost timer
Jthat will generate a clicking

[and out of defrostcycle.
FREEZER COMPARTMENT
CONTRACTION AND EX-
PANSION: A popping sound
may occur in the freezer when
the unit starts up due to
contraction or expansion of
the materials in the freezer
area.
REFRIGERANT FLOW: The flow of the I
refrigerantin your refrigerator may cause a I
gurgling or rattling sound when the unit is
running or ust after the unit cycles off. The
refrigerant is still flowing in the tubing.
J
i
AIRFLOW SOUNDS: Both the freezer evaporator J
,
fan and the condenser fan at the bottom of the I
cabinetwill create airflow sounds. The evaporator
fan is circulating the cold air throughout the J
