Programming Your Remote Control
WELCOME TO XFINITY
The XFINITY
Spectrum
®
supplied by Comcast. This remote control operates all the features and functions of the set-top box and is
programmable to operate the Volume and Power of your TV or audio device.

Installing Batteries

Use the following process to install the batteries.
1. Pull back and remove the remote control's battery cover.
2. Insert the two supplied AA batteries aligning the + and - on the batteries with those in the battery
compartment.
3. Push the battery cover back into place.
4. Test the unit by pressing the Power key.
5. If the batteries are inserted correctly, the green light blinks twice.
Note: When batteries need replacement, the red light blinks five times each time you press a key. Replace the
old batteries with new AA batteries.

Pairing the Remote

Your remote is capable of RF communication with your set-top box. This allows the box to respond to the
remote from a greater distance, and even if the set-top box is not in the remote's line of sight (for example,
if you want to place the set-top box in a cabinet). Put the remote control in RF mode by using the following
pairing process.
1. Press both oval buttons on the front of the set-top box until the on-screen message indicates the set-top
box is ready for pairing.
2. Point the remote at the set-top box and press the XFINITY button on the remote until an on-screen
message indicates that the pairing process is completed.
3. Once the pairing process is completed, the green light blinks twice.
4. Press the OK/Select button on the remote to clear the on-screen display.
Using the Remote for TV and Audio Devices
You can program your remote to control your TV, an audio device, such as an amplifier, or both. If you
program the remote to control both devices, then the Power and Volume buttons send signals to both devices
simultaneously.
Programming the remote for both a TV and an audio device works best when you can disable your TV's
speakers and direct TV sound to your audio device. If you cannot disable your TV's speakers, Comcast
recommends programming the remote to control only your TV.

Programming TV Control

The remote contains a universal TV library and can be programmed to operate the Power and Volume
controls of your TV.
1. Turn on the TV you want to control.
2. Press and hold the Delete button until the green light under the Power button blinks twice.
3. See Setup Codes for TVs to find the brand name of the TV you want to control. Enter the first five-digit
code for your brand of TV. If performed correctly, the green light under the Power button blinks twice.
Note: If the green light emits one long blink, repeat steps 2 and 3, entering the same code.
4. Point the remote at the TV and press the Power button. If the TV turns off, you have found the correct
code. If the TV does not respond, repeat steps 2-4 trying each code listed for your brand of TV.
5. Press and hold the Delete button until the green light under the Power button blinks twice.
