Adjusting the speaker volume
and level

Press DVD SETUP in stop mode.
The Setup Display appears.

Press M or m repeatedly to select
"SPEAKER SETUP", then press
ENTER.

Press M or m repeatedly to select
"TEST TONE", then press ENTER.

Press M or m repeatedly to select "ON",
then press ENTER.
You will hear the test tone from each
speaker in sequence.

From your listening position, adjust the
value of "BALANCE" and "LEVEL"
using M/m/</,.
The test tone is emitted from the selected
speaker.

Press ENTER when you finish
adjusting.

Press M or m repeatedly to select
"TEST TONE", then press ENTER.

Press M or m repeatedly to select
"OFF", then press ENTER.
Tip
To adjust the balance or the level without listening to
the test tone, select "BALANCE" or "LEVEL" in step
3 and press ENTER, then adjust the balance or level
using M/m and press ENTER.
x LEVEL
You can vary the level of each speaker as
follows. Be sure to set "TEST TONE" to "ON"
for easy adjustment.
The default settings are underlined.
CENTER*
0 dB
SURROUND
LEFT*
0 dB
SURROUND

Adjust the level of the center
speaker (–6 dB to +6 dB, 1 dB
increments).
Adjust the level of the surround
speaker (–6 dB to +6 dB, 1 dB
increments).
SUBWOOFER
Adjust the level of the sub woofer

(–10 dB to +10 dB for MHC-
RV990D, –10 dB to 0 dB for
MHC-RV660D, 1 dB
increments).
* MHC-RV990D only
x BALANCE
You can vary the balance of the left and right
speakers as follows. Be sure to set "TEST
TONE" to "ON" for easy adjustment.
The default settings are underlined.
FRONT
Adjust the balance between the
– – – (CENTER)
front left and right speakers
(6 steps left or right).
x TEST TONE (MHC-RV990D only)
The speakers will emit a test tone to adjust
"BALANCE" and "LEVEL".
The default settings are underlined.
OFF
The test tone is not emitted from the
speakers.
ON
The test tone is emitted from each
speaker in sequence while adjusting
balance or level. When you select one
of the "SPEAKER SETUP (LEVEL or
BALANCE)" items, the test tone is
emitted from the selected speaker.
x LFE (MHC-RV660D only)
You can enjoy low frequency effect with LFE
channel recorded on discs.
The default settings are underlined.
ON
The LFE channel is output.
OFF
The LFE channel is not output.
Note
If there is excessive wow or flutter when recording
audio from a DVD, set "LFE" to "OFF".
