6. Smear a little engine oil
around the rubber gasket of
the new oil filter.
CAUTION
Using an oil filer with t~~
wrong design or thread specifi-
cations can cause oil leaks or
engine damage.
Use a genuine SUZUKI oil filter
or an equivalent designed for
your motorcycle.
7. Screw the new filter by hand
until the filter gasket contacts
the mounting surface (a small
resistance will be felt).
NOTE; To tighten the oil fiter
properly, it is important to accu-
rately identify the positon at
which the filer gasket first con-
tacts the mounting surface.
Mark top dead center
In the position at
which the filter .
gasket first contactsT
the rnounting
surface.
Tighten the filer
2 turns.
8. Mark the top dead center posi-
tion on the "cap" type filter
wrench or on the oil filter. Use
an oil filter wrench to tighten
the filter 2 turns.
9. Reinstall the drain plug and
gasket. Tighten the plug
securely with a wrench.
