If a power failure occurs or the main power is turned off during operation, “Auto restart function” sets automatically to start operating in the same mode as the one set with the remote controller just before the shutoff of the main power. PREPARATION BEFORE OPERATION Remote controller How to set the batteries and the current time Remove the front lid and insert batteries. Then reattach the front lid. Insert the minus pole of the batteries first. Check if the polarity of the batteries is correct. Press the RESET button.

When the remote controller cannot be used (emergency operation) When the batteries of the remote controller run out or the remote controller malfunctions, the emergency operation can be done using the EMERGENCY OPERATION switch. Press the EMERGENCY OPERATION switch. • Each time the EMERGENCY OPERATION switch is pressed, the unit will operate in order of EMER- GENCY COOL MODE and STOP MODE.
Description of “AUTO RESTART FUNCTION” • These units are equipped with an auto restart function. When the main power is turned on, the air conditioner will start operation automatically in the same mode as the one set with the remote controller before the shutoff of the main power.

COOL: When the room temperature is 4°F higher than the set temperature, the set temperature may not be changed since the air conditioner is operating to reach the target (set) temperature. In this case, please wait until the room temperature drops to within 4°F of the set temperature and then change the set temperature.
The details of the display on the indoor unit are explained on page 6. If the air conditioner does not cool effectively… If the fan speed is set to Low or AUTO, sometimes the air conditioner may not cool the air effectively. In this case, change the fan speed to Med. or upper.
AIR FLOW velocity and direction can be selected as required. NOTE: • In the cooling operation, when the air conditioner is operated with setting the horizontal vane to 1 hour, the AIR FLOW direction is automatically set to horizontal to prevent condensed water from dropping.
MANUAL COOL mode. Press the button. The air conditioner automatically adjusts the fan speed and the set tempera- ture, and operates the POWERFUL mode. The POWERFUL mode is automati- cally released 15 minutes after operation starts, and the operation mode re- turns to the mode prior to POWERFUL operation.

If the main power is turned off or a power failure occurs while AUTO START/STOP timer is active, the timer setting is cancelled. As these models are equipped with an auto restart function, the air conditioner starts operating with timer cancelled at the same time that power is restored.

An amplifier may be required for the af- fected device.

• This sound is generated by the expansion/con- traction of the front panel, etc. due to change in temperature. • The air conditioner may suck in an odor adher- ing to the wall, carpet, furniture, cloth, etc. and blow it out with the air.
• Be sure to observe the breaker capacity. • Use the correct power (voltage and frequency) indicated on the unit to operate the air conditioner and use only fuses or breakers with specified capacity. Do not use pieces of wire instead of fuses.
