4. From the list displayed on the screen, select the operating system you
want to recover.
5. Select the recovery options you want, and follow the instructions on the
screen.
6. Restart the system by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del or by turning the computer
off and then on again. Your computer will restart with the pre-installed
operating system, drivers, and software.
To use a Recovery CD to restore your pre-installed software, do the
following:
Note: You need one of the following sets of drives to use the Recovery CD.
1. Save all your files and turn off your computer.
2. Connect your set of drives.
3. Insert the Recovery CD into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
4. If you do not use the IBM Portable Drive Bay 2000, insert the Recovery
CD diskette into the USB Floppy Disk drive.
5. If you use the IBM Portable Drive Bay 2000, you must change the boot
sequence as follows:
a. Turn on your computer; then start the BIOS Setup Utility by pressing
b. Select Startup with the cursor key, and press Enter.
c. Select Boot by pressing Enter.
d. Select ATAPI CD-ROM Drive with the cursor key.
e. Move ATAPI CD-ROM Drive up by pressing F6.
