When the INPUT 1 or INPUT 2 switch is set to MIC or MIC+48V, you can
activate the external microphone's attenuator (20 dB).

2 Select [On] and then press SET.

Using the MIC Terminal

You can set the audio recording level of a microphone attached to the
MIC terminal to automatic or manual level. With manual audio level
adjustment, you can set the audio level within a range of 0 to 99.
1 Open the [MIC Mode] submenu.
[¡ Audio Setup] > [Audio Input] > [MIC Mode]
2 Select [Automatic] or [Manual] and then press SET.
• If you selected [Automatic], the rest of the procedure is not necessary.
If you selected [Manual], continue the procedure to set the
microphone's audio recording level.
3 Open the [MIC Level] submenu.
[¡ Audio Setup] > [Audio Input] > [MIC Level]
4 Push the joystick up/down or turn the SELECT dial to set the audio recording level and then press
SET.
• For reference, 0 corresponds to –G, 50 corresponds to 0 dB, and 99 corresponds to +18 dB.
• As a guideline, adjust the audio recording level so that the audio level meter on the screen or rear panel will
go to the right of the –18 dB mark (one mark right of the –20 dB mark) only occasionally.
NOTES
NOTES
• We recommend using headphones when adjusting the audio level. If the input level is too high, audio may
become distorted even if the audio level indicator shows an appropriate level.
Activating the Low-Cut Filter
You can activate the low-cut filter, for example to reduce the sound of wind
in the background when recording outdoors.
1 Open the [MIC Low Cut] submenu.
[¡ Audio Setup] > [Audio Input] > [MIC Low Cut]
2 Select [On] or [Off] and then press SET.
• When you select [On], some low-frequency sounds may be
suppressed along with the sound of wind.
