GENERAL POINTS ON

STARTING

Do not operate the starter for
longer than 15 seconds at a time or
30 seconds for vehicles with diesel
engines. Release the ignition key as
soon as the engine has started.
If the engine has not started, return
the ignition key/ignition switch to
position 0 and repeat the starting
procedure.
If the engine does not start,
refer to the instructions
regarding the fuel injection
system shut-off switch on
page 115.
Vehicles with a petrol engine
If the battery has been
disconnected the vehicle may
exhibit some unusual driving
characteristics for approximately
5 miles (8 km) after battery
reconnection.
This is because the engine
management system must realign
itself with the engine. Any unusual
driving characteristics during this
period may be disregarded.
Engine speed limiter
The engine speed is limited
electronically to protect the engine.
