Electronic Stability Program
(ESP)
Drivers should never take
unnecessary risks even
though the Electronic Stability
Program system offers inherently
safer driving potential.
Principle of operation
The Electronic Stability Program
(ESP) system helps the driver to
maintain the stability and
steerability of the vehicle. The
system integrates the anti-lock
braking (ABS) and Traction Control
(TCS) systems with a yaw
reduction feature to further
enhance the stability of the vehicle.
ESP indicator light
with ESP
without ESP
ESP constantly monitors the
vehicle motion relative to the
driver's intended course. This is
done by using added sensors that
compare the steering inputs from
the driver with the actual motion of
the vehicle. When the system
detects a discrepancy, ESP changes
the force at each tyre to help
correct it.
