[1.5] Digital Upgrade Process
1.
Place the latest digital software on the CF card. (Refer to the release notes to identify the correct file.)
2.
If the TV is not already on, connect the TV to AC power and press

Press DTV on the remote control to put the television into DTV mode.
4.
Disconnect the TV from AC power. Wait 10 seconds.
Do NOT go to standby first. Just unplug the power cord.
5.
Insert the CF card into the PCMCIA CF adapter.
Note:

Insert the PCMCIA CF adapter into the CI-slot on the rear panel of the TV. (Refer to "Television rear and side view" on
page 2-1.)
7.
Connect the TV to AC power.
The upgrade process will start. The message "Digital TV, Starting" will display on the screen.
8.
When the "Digital TV, Starting" message is no longer on the TV, the upgrade process is complete.
9.
If the TV is not on already, press
10. Complete the steps in the automatic setup.
11. Using the remote control, verify that the TV was upgraded correctly by going to the following screen:
Press DTV and then press DTV MENU. Go to Installation > About.

A CF memory card is included in the software upgrade kit. Please use this CF card when
upgrading. Most other 32 MB and 64 MB cards will work, but they are not fully tested.

Downgrade Instructions:
The easiest way to perform a downgrade is to rename the file (with the old version you
want to downgrade to) to a version higher than the one that is currently in the set. So if
version 1.03 is currently in the set and you want to downgrade to v1.01, you should
rename the file "8400-14001_01.bin" on the Compact Flash to "8400-14001_04.bin".
Forced Download Instructions:
The "Downgrade Instruction" procedure can also be used when software is partly written
to the flash (for example, in the case of a power failure).
Before upgrading, the software versions (on the CF card and TV) are compared. If the
versions are the same, the upgrade is automatically cancelled. A partly written flash can
never be upgraded unless the system is fooled by renaming the file as described in
"Downgrade Instructions".
