Overview

Printing flow

When using this printing system as a printer, the flow of the main process is
described below.
Print commands transmitted from the application are received by the printer
driver.
Data is transmitted to this machine over a parallel interface (IEEE 1284) when
this machine is used as a local printer, over a USB interface when this ma-
chine is used as a USB printer, or over an Ethernet interface (TCP/IP, IPX/
SPX, AppleTalk) when this machine is used as a network printer. The data is
then delivered from this machine to the printer controller, which performs im-
age rasterization (development of output characters and images to bitmap
data). Finally, this data is printed from this machine.
Note
The parallel and USB interfaces cannot be used simultaneously.
