Reactivation

In order to achieve good cleaning results, the dishwasher water
needs to be softened. The water is softened automatically in the
water softener.
Dishwasher salt is required for reactivation and the degree of water
hardness must be set on the dishwasher to ensure problem-free
functioning of the water softener (see "Additional settings, Water
hardness").
If the hardness of your water constantly lies under 4 gpg (4 °dH), no
salt must be filled in the water softener.
 Do not fill the salt container with dishwasher detergent (even
liquid detergent).
Dishwasher detergent will damage the water softener.
Use only special, coarse-grained reactivation salt or other pure
kitchen salt.
Other types of salt may contain insoluble components which can
damage the water softener.
At the end of a program, fill the salt reservoir with salt as soon as
the message appears in the display.
Confirm the message with the OK button.
If salt is not added, the  symbol indicating a lack of salt will appear
beside the program name on the right.
At the end of each program, the lack of salt message appears again.
Refill reminders can be displayed during the program cycle by
pressing the OK button.
If there are no additional refill reminders, the  symbol in the display
will go out after a few seconds after the salt has been refilled.
The salt refill reminder is deactivated if the dishwasher is set to a
water hardness of 0 - 4 gpg (0 - 4 °dH).
If the refill salt reminder is ignored for several program cycles and the
salt is not refilled, the appliance will lock itself against additional use
until it is refilled.
The following message will appear in the display shortly before this
happens:
Machine locking
Insufficient salt
