11.1 GENERAL ________________________________________________________________

The problem solution chart lists basic problems that can occur during start and operation of the mower. For complete

Problem
Engine will not start
Engine is difficult to start
or engine runs rough
Engine Stops
The engine temperature
more than 230° F (110°
C).
The battery does not
hold a charge.
The battery light
illuminated.
Cutting units cut
different levels.
Possible Cause
1. Parking brake switch OFF, traction
pedal out of neutral or PTO switch
ON.
2. The glow plug has not timed out.
3. Battery low on charge or has
defects.
4. Fuel tank empty or dirty. Water in the
fuel, air in fuel lines.
5. Fuse blown
6. Relay has defects.
7. Traction pedal has defects.
1. Level of fuel is low, fuel or fuel filter
not clean.
2. Air cleaner dirty
3. Injectors, fuel pump.
4. Engine Problem
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. The interlocks not set before you
leave the seat
1. Level of coolant is low

Action
1. Check the interlock and start procedure.
2. Set the ignition switch and wait until glow
plug light on combination gauge to turn off
before you start the engine.
3. Inspect the battery
connections.
4. Fill the tank with clean fuel. Change the
fuel filter. Drain
separator. Bleed the fuel system.
5. Replace the fuse
6. Test and replace the relay
7. Test and replace the traction pedal.
1. Fill with clean fuel. Change fuel filter.
Drain water from water separator, bleed
fuel system.
2. Inspect and replace air filter.
3. See the Engine Manual.
4. See the Engine Manual.
1. Fill with clean fuel and bleed the fuel
system.
2. Turn the parking brake ON and turn the
PTO switch OFF before you leave the
seat.
1. Inspect and add coolant
2. Clean air intake at radiator.
3. Tighten or replace the belt.
1. Inspect and clean battery terminals,
Tighten battery cables.
2. Fill the battery.
3. Tighten or replace the belt.

5. Load test the battery.
1. Inspect height of cut adjustment.
2. Check the engine speed. Run the engine
at full throttle.
3. Adjust the mow speed for best cut.
