CAUTION:
The throttle cable joint must be screwed
in a minimum of 8.0 mm (0.31 in) c.
5. Connect the cable joint, install the clip,
and then tighten the locknut.
6. Check the throttle cable for smooth oper-
ation and adjust the cable length, if nec-
essary, repeating steps 2–6.

Checking the gearshift operation

1. Check
that
the
smoothly when shifting from neutral into
forward or reverse. Adjust the shift cable
length if necessary.
2. Set the gearshift to the neutral position.
3. Loosen the locknut 1, remove the clip
2, and then disconnect the shift cable
joint 3.
4. Align the set pin a in the center of the
shift bracket and with the alignment mark
b on the bracket.

5. Adjust the position of the shift cable joint
until its hole is aligned with the set pin.

Checking the engine idle speed

NOTE:
Be sure to check the engine idle speed
before adjusting the pilot screw.
1. Start the engine and warm it up for 5 min-
utes.
2. Attach the special service tool to high-
tension cord #1 1, and then check the
engine idle speed. Adjust if out of specifi-
cation.
