Installation Preparation

This appliance must be installed in accordance with all local codes, if any; if not, follow ANSI
Z223.1 and the requirements listed in this manual. Failure to follow all of the requirements
may result in property damage, bodily injury, or even death.

Notify your insurance company before hooking up this heater.
!
The requirements listed below are divided into sections. All requirements must be met
simultaneously. The order of installation is not rigid Ð the qualified installer should follow the
procedure best suited for the installation.

Order of Installation

1 If the heater is to use propane, follow the
instructions on pages 27 - 33
2 Install the side surround panels (see page 24)
4 Position the heater
5 Connect the gas line

Insert Placement

Min. 21" Tall
(includes 2" for
vent installation)
When installed,
the surround
panels must be
3/8" off of the
fireplace facing.
See the section "Gas Line
Installation" for details on
the gas inlet location.

Run the power cord to the side
in front of the surround panels.

Door Kit (Door handle, mounting angle, T-nut)

Propane Conversion Kit
Surround Panels (8", 10", or 12")
6 Connect the gas vent
7 Attach the top surround panel and trim
8 Follow the instructions under "Finalizing
the Installation" on pages 9 through 13
Facing must extend 8" from the top of
the insert. The mantel must be 17-1/2"
above the top.
Facing must extend 8"
from the side of insert.
Measure from the side
convection channel.
Use the leveling bolts for
fireplaces with recessed
floors (included with the
surround panels).
The heater inserts 13-1/2" into
the fireplace (NOTE: the vent
protrudes up to 6" beyond the
rear edge of the heater).
