Look through the viewfinder
and position the focus brackets
on the main subject.
In BASIC mode, Single Servo
AF is automatically selected.
After focusing is achieved and
the in-focus indicator ( )
appears, focus remains locked as
long as you lightly press the
Shutter Release button. If the
distance between you and the
subject changes, remove your
finger from the Shutter Release
button, then lightly press it again
to refocus. Refer to "AF-S
Single Servo AF" on page 6-30.

Lightly press the Shutter
Release button to start the
autofocus operation and to
switch the exposure meter On.
Confirm that the in-focus
indicator ( ), shutter speed and
aperture indications appear in
the viewfinder LCD.

lets you change the shutter
speed/aperture combination,
refer to the "Operating in
Flexible Program" section on
page 6-17.
