MoTorizeD auxilliarY valve (Mav)
When control is programmed as ALT A & ALT b signifying to PC board to operate an alternating system, factory default for reserve set-
ting is "AUTO" and hardness as 20 gpg and capacity to 90% of specified capacity on page 29. This allows 10% safety factor to maintain
good quality soft water at end of service run at high flows.
When programmed as an alternator there is not an option to program "OFF" for reserve, as this would cause regeneration on calendar
day override, defeating purpose of twin alternating system.
An added benefit of a twin alternating system with a motorized auxilliary valve (MAV) includes an automatic rinse feature of the standby
"tank". If the stand-by time exceeds 12 hours, a short rinse cycle will initiate at 6:00am/6:00pm whichever comes first. The software
alternates, placing the standby tank in service until 10 gallons passes through it and then reverts back to the unit that was in service.
This occasional rinse feature will minimize hardness and iron leakage from the resin due to prolonged stagnant mode.
