Installing memory

When you upgrade the computer memory, make sure that you install the correct type of memory
module for your computer. Your computer uses DIMM memory.
To install or replace DIMM memory:

Make sure that all of the internal cables are arranged inside the case so they will not be
pinched when you close the case.
Insert the panel tabs into the bottom of the case, then swing the side panel up toward
the top of the computer until it clicks to secure it into place.
Reconnect the cables and power cord.
Remove the side panel by following the instructions in
page
122.
For more stability, place your computer on its side. To avoid scratching the case, place it
on a towel or other non-abrasive surface.
Remove the metal reinforcing beam/hard drive assembly and set it aside (as far as the
hard drive cables will allow).
Find the memory module banks on your system board.
If you are removing a DIMM from the memory module bank, gently pull the plastic tabs
away from the sides of the memory module and remove it.
- OR -
If you are adding a DIMM to an empty memory module bank, gently pull the plastic tabs
away from the sides of the memory module bank.
