HIDDEN MODE and SHIFT CODE OPERATION
With DSW2-4=ON and turning the print engine ON while holding down the
FEED key, you can access some hidden options as follows:

SATO "Se" Print Engines
This screen is a prompt message without any user
input available. It hints that you can set the Label
Sensor in some way, but does not provide any further
instructions, because in a factory environment, this
sensor should not be easily accessible to end users
who may accidentally turn the sensor OFF, when the
sensor should be left ON by default.
To access settings for the Label Out Sensor and other
settings in Hidden Mode, turn DSW2-4 OFF at this
This selection determines whether the print engine will
display a PAPER OUT warning and sound the buzzer
when the label supply is out. Use the LINE key to
select YES (default) or NO, then press the FEED key
to continue to the next menu screen.
This selection is OFF by default. Use the LINE key to
select ON or OFF, and the FEED key to confirm the
selection. When set to ON, the printer offer a set of
SHIFT CODE menu options if you press and hold the
LINE and FEED keys for five seconds in ONLINE mode.
This is a special mode for advanced users or operators.
Use this mode to store the timing of up to three factory
shift periods. This shift period can be printed along with
label data to identify which factory staff generated any
particular label. Such data is useful for accountability
tracking or troubleshooting.
Use the LINE key to select any of the shift periods, and
press FEED to proceed to define the time for that shift.
The default is Shift 1.
Use this mode to store the timing of up to three factory
shift periods. This shift period can be printed along with
label data to identify which factory staff generated any
particular label. Such data is useful for accountability
tracking or troubleshooting.
Use the LINE key to select any of the shift periods, and
press FEED to proceed to define the time for that shift.
The default is Shift 1.
Use the LINE and FEED keys to set the time of the shift,
as well as how many characters to use for naming the
selected shift. Finally, define the name of the shift and
press the FEED key to exit this mode.
