4-4-1 Checking fi rmware versions
(1) Version check screen display method
1) Attach the battery pack or AC adapter/charger to power the camcorder.
2) Set the Movie/Still switch to "Movie", and then
turn the power switch to the "ON" position. (The
DZ-BD7HA can display the fi rmware version in
both HDD and BD/DVD modes.)
Then operate the camcorder while watching the
LCD monitor or viewfi nder.
3) Display the version check screen (version screen)
using the following button operation:
Simultaneously press the QUICK START,
REC buttons and joystick
Information:
1) With actual screens, fi gures and letters will appear in digits displayed as x on illustrations.
2) "HDD" is not usually a target of updating.
(2) Version check screen display clearing method
1) Press the STOP/EXIT button to restore the normal screen.
4-4-2 Updating fi rmware
If you receive information from the factory on technical bulletin, etc. that updating fi rmware is
needed, you should update to improve the performance, functions and operability of camcorder.
Caution
Be sure to acquire the appropriate data before updating the corresponding model, and then create a
DVD-RAM/SD memory card (more than 16MB) for updating.
If a DVD-RAM/SD memory card for updating a model other than that to be serviced is inserted, an
mismatch screen will appear: Stop updating and remove the DVD-RAM/SD memory card.
1) Acquire the data for updating of fi rmware and create a DVD-RAM or SD memory card for updat-
ing: Information on how to do this will be reported on service bulletin, etc.
2) Set the power switch to "OFF", and then use the AC adapter/charger to power the camcorder:
A battery cannot be used to do this because it may interrupt power of camcorder during updating.
3) Insert the DVD-RAM/SD memory card for updating.
4) When using the card for updating, set the Movie/Still switch to "Still", and then turn the power
switch to "ON"; when using the disc for updating, set the Movie/Still switch to "Movie", and then
turn the power switch to "ON". With the DZ-BD7HA, also use the power switch to choose the "BD/
DVD" mode.
